The Duke of Edinburgh Awards were created as a way for each participant to set individual goals for personal improvement and growth. As part of this award, there is an outdoor component for each of the three levels. A big part of what we do at Ridge Wilderness Adventures is getting people outside and empowered to achieve their personal goals. In saying this, the Duke of Edinburgh Award is a great fit, as it involves the outdoor empowerment and growth that we love to see. We offer adventures for all three levels of the Duke of Edinburgh Award: Bronze, Silver, and Gold, as well as Preliminary Training and Practice Journeys.

We could not be more thrilled to have the opportunity to offer Adventurous Journeys on the Bowron Lake Circuit. This is a world-renowned journey that people travel from all over the world to paddle!

Transportation to and from the Bowron Lakes Canoe Circuit will be the responsibility of the participants.

Participants will receive full program details including gear list, drop-off/pick-up location, waivers, and all details pertaining to the trip upon registration!

Bowron Lakes Canoe Circuit – July 2nd – 9th

We could not be more thrilled to have the opportunity to offer a youth adventurous journey on the Bowron Lake Circuit. This is a world-renowned journey that people travel from all over the world to paddle!

Transportation to and from the Bowron Lakes Canoe Circuit will be the responsibility of the participants.

Participants will receive full program details including gear list, drop-off/pick-up location, waivers, and all details pertaining to the trip upon registration! Package pricing includes canoes, canoe gear (PFD’s paddles, throw ropes etc), guide services, food, cooking equipment, tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, tarps and ropes, camp stool and permit fees. Participants will be responsible for personal gear.

The route of our Bowron Lakes Guided Canoe Trips includes 108 km (65 miles) of paddling and 8 km (5 miles) of portaging. To assist with portaging (the longest is 2.4 km), each canoe has a two-wheeled carrier, allowing canoe partners to pull their share of the group gear over the portages, thus avoiding heavy shoulder loads. Clients will be required to carry their own back pack. Some portages are hilly, however and, when wet, can require considerable energy.

Good health, reasonable fitness and plenty of enthusiasm are your only requirements. Although it’s an outdoor adventure for all ages, including seniors, take into account that this is a wilderness experience. Paddling distances range from 2 to 17 kms per day, and inclement weather can make even a short day challenging.
