Overnight Canoe Trips

Our one-of-a-kind Overnight Canoe Trips are aimed to promote independence while getting kids outside to enjoy our beautiful backcountry. These trips are offered at a number of locations in BC! During our trips we offer a large range of activities including basic canoe skills, basic first aid, wilderness code of conduct, meal preparation, shelter building, tarp and rope use, knots and more! All of our overnight programs include food, cooking equipment, canoe equipment and experienced guides to lead the way!

Do you require financial assistance? Our team does everything we can to price these trips as affordable as possible! It truly is our mission to get as many youth outside no matter their socioeconomic status. We understand that the regular pricing may still be out of reach for many of our community members. With that in mind, Ridge is working towards a private in-house foundation that will allow us to help more families make these dream trips come true for their children. Our goal is to have this program launched by the summer of 2024!

Bowron Lakes Canoe Circuit – July 2nd – 9th

We could not be more thrilled to have the opportunity to offer a youth adventurous journey on the Bowron Lake Circuit. This is a world-renowned journey that people travel from all over the world to paddle!

Transportation to and from the Bowron Lakes Canoe Circuit will be the responsibility of the participants.

Participants will receive full program details including gear list, drop-off/pick-up location, waivers, and all details pertaining to the trip upon registration! Package pricing includes canoes, canoe gear (PFD’s paddles, throw ropes etc), guide services, food, cooking equipment, tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, tarps and ropes, camp stool and permit fees. Participants will be responsible for personal gear.

The route of our Bowron Lakes Guided Canoe Trips includes 108 km (65 miles) of paddling and 8 km (5 miles) of portaging. To assist with portaging (the longest is 2.4 km), each canoe has a two-wheeled carrier, allowing canoe partners to pull their share of the group gear over the portages, thus avoiding heavy shoulder loads. Clients will be required to carry their own back pack. Some portages are hilly, however and, when wet, can require considerable energy.

Good health, reasonable fitness and plenty of enthusiasm are your only requirements. Although it’s an outdoor adventure for all ages, including seniors, take into account that this is a wilderness experience. Paddling distances range from 2 to 17 kms per day, and inclement weather can make even a short day challenging.

Pack your dry bags and join the Ridge Wilderness team of experienced backcountry canoe guides for a 3-day, 2-night canoe trip on the incredible waters of Pitt Lake. No paddling experience? No problem! Participants will join forces in our big canoes to learn all the basics of paddling, camp selection and setup, basic first aid, fire building, tarp and rope use, shelter building, camp cooking, and so much more! During the days you will paddle your way to the mud flats, possibly hike Widgeon Falls, or an incredible paddle to Osprey! Activities will be dependent on weather and group participation.

The trip cost is $399.95+gst per person, which includes food, canoe gear, guide services, cooking equipment, tents, sleeping bags, sleeping mat, small and large dry bags, aluminum mess kits (yours to KEEP), tarp & rope, and camp stool! You just pack your personal items and let us worry about the rest.

Activities include:

visit the mud flats, where there are big open super slippery mud flats for kms
hike at Widgeon (dependent on camping location)

Skill building activities: Camp set up/selection, Basic first aid, fire building, tarp and rope use and shelter building, camp cooking, canoeing, hiking and exploration!
