Prepare to embark on an unforgettable adventure as Edmonton school teachers gear up for a day of camaraderie, exploration, and natural beauty on May 25th, 2024, at Astotin Lake in Elk Island National Park. Organized by Ridge Wilderness, this event promises a rejuvenating break from the ordinary, offering educators a unique opportunity to connect with nature and each other.
Morning Adventure: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
At 10:00 AM, Group 1 will set off for an exhilarating guided big canoe expedition. Led by seasoned guides, teachers will paddle through the tranquil waters of Astotin Lake, immersing themselves in the beauty of the surroundings. Simultaneously, Group 2 will embark on a self-guided tandem canoe journey, fostering teamwork and navigational skills.
Lunch Break: 12:00 PM – 12:30 PM
Following the morning adventures, participants will gather for a well-deserved lunch break. Laughter and camaraderie will fill the air as teachers share stories of their morning escapades, enjoying a delightful midday meal by the lakeside. Please note, participants will be required to bring their own bagged lunch!
Afternoon Exploration: 12:30 PM – 2:30 PM
In the afternoon session, the groups will switch activities. Group 1 will take charge of their own destiny, navigating the waters in self-guided tandem canoes, while Group 2 experiences the unique perspective of a guided big canoe adventure.
